What happens when Sonic the Hedgehog collides with PowerA products? A launch film that lives in the Sonic world! We loved collaborating on this animation and using inspiration from the Sonic world to inspire the movement of the products and the environment around it.
PowerA was excited to show the world this trinity of products for Nintendo Switch and they trusted us to make a film that showcased all three in a fun and exciting way for true Sonic fans. The products were the Enhanced Wired Controller for Nintendo Switch, the Protection Case for Nintendo Switch, and the TriFold Game Card Holder.
The first question we had to ask ourselves was, "What environment will these products live in?" And secondly, "How will we move these products?"
The Sonic franchise has been popular for decades. The Sonic game introduced innovative gameplay with an emphasis on speed which created a unique gaming experience. Sonic's character design was always fun and so is the world he explores.
What tools did we use for this project? We used a combination of Cinema 4D, Redshift and Adobe After Effects. This allowed us to create and composite the 3D world we needed.
We wanted to make sure the Sonic style frames gave the feeling of being within the environment Sonic gamers have been used to for the last several decades. The grass, the checkered track, the rings etc.
